About us

Katiné is an independent womenswear brand based in Prague, built on a single principle: every collection draws from one woman artist, her palette, her gesture, her world. The garments carry something of how she looked at women. The work explores the balance between structure and intuition, clarity and emotion, form and feeling. We design for women who dress slowly, who wear fewer things, longer.

Three principles hold:

  • Authorship - every collection is named after the woman who shaped it.
  • Restraint - small drops, no discounts, no seasonal trends.
  • Materiality - silk, wool, and lace in their true weight; fabric as argument, not decoration.

Design philosophy

Our work sits between avant-garde thinking and everyday wearability. We draw from architecture, painting, and the women who made both, not as symbols, but as principles. Intuition, ritual, and presence are translated into cut, proportion, and material rather than surface embellishment.

Visually, Katiné moves between baroque and brutalism. Cold light. Sculpted silhouettes. Gesture caught in motion. The pieces are quieter than most of what we see today and that is exactly why they hold.

Making

Production is small and European. We work in limited runs to avoid overproduction, mostly with hand-finishing in our Prague studio and our local seamstresses, who share our standards. Materials are chosen for their weight and behaviour first, natural fibres, deadstock from European mills, fabrics certified to honest standards. Nothing is sourced because it's a story; everything is sourced because it's right for the piece.

The current collection, La garçonne, redressed, is a study of Tamara de Lempicka. The next will draw from another woman. The conversation continues.
